Whatās good Chirp Fam! Hope everyone had a spectacular weekend and youāre ready for another HEATER of a matchup tonight in the NFL!
Today Doctor Chirp Daddy is giving you a preview for the MNF set to kick off in just under an hour! This is a big matchup with playoff implications on the line. On Saturday we went a putrid 0-2 on the day losing 5 units on the Army Navy game. Letās bounce back tonight! If youāre new here and like what you see, subscribe to never miss a newsletter.
Monday Night Football Preview:
The Dolphins come into this matchup riding one of the hottest streaks around right now in the league. Winners of 5 out of the last 6 games despite a plethora of injuries, they have been playing lights out as of late.
In the last 3 games theyāve only allowed 13.3 PPG, almost 10 less than their average for the season. Their offense is also lighting it up scoring over 30 points in 3 of those 6 games during the hot stretch.
The weather tonight in Pittsburgh is looking like a clear 15 degrees. Despite Miamiās recent success we should take a look at QB Tuaās record in freezing cold games during his career. The lefty is 0-5 historically in games 40 degrees or below, 1-6 in 45 or below, 2-8 in 50 or below.
The Dolphins as a squad have lost 13 in a row in games below 40 degrees which is fucking insane. If we look at what history is indicating, it will be extremely tempting to ride the wave and take the Steelers in this one.
What we must consider though is what is happening NOW. Thereās a lot to unpack here and it mostly comes down to injuries on the defensive side of the ball for the Steel Curtain. Rookie standout DT Derrick Harmon is out for this game.
When heās on the field the Steelers allow just 96 rushing yards a game compared to 191 allowed in the 4 games heās missed so far this season. Also, star DE TJ Watt is expected to miss this one as well. With 2 of their best front 7 players out in this one, look for Miami to expose Pittsburgh on the ground.
Apart from the defensive struggles Pitt has succumbed to, QB Aaron Rodgers is doin jack shit to help them win ball games right now. Heās averaging a stinking 169 yards per game in the past 4 starts.
RB Jaylen Warren is also active, but battling an illness which will leave the bulk of the load to backup Kenneth Gainwell who has looked good in limited spot starts this year, but the one-two punch of them both at full capacity is definitely a better opportunity.
Miamiās only allowing 106 rush yards per game in their last 3 and only gave up 65 last week versus the Jets. The fins are also one of the strongest squads in the league against the pass only giving up just over 200 yards per game through the air and 187 in the last 3.
The consensus play that El Chirpy Gordo is feeling in this one is Miami +3.5. I donāt think the Pitt offense can sustain many drives in this cold affair against a stronger Miami unit. Their defense will also struggle with the losses of TJ Watt and Derrick Harmon.
The Chirp Fam is also maxing Devon Achane on his over rush yards in this one. With Harmon sidelined and in the cold weather, the run game will be on for the Fins to chip away at this defense all night. Weāre also going to have some light sprinkles on Jaylen Warren under rushing yards and Tua under passing yards.
Some accompanying bets will be Kenneth Gainwell hitting the over and the full game UNDER hitting as well. Letās fuckin get it Chirp Fam, Iām feeling a 17-16 squeaker of a win for the Steelers in this one.
Mr Chirpās Picks:
MIA +3.5: Risk: 3u
UNDER 42.5: Risk: 1u
Achane OVER 81.5 rush yards: Risk: 4u
Warren UNDER 49.5 rush yards: Risk: 2u
Gainwell OVER 27.5 rush yards: Risk: 1.5u
Tua UNDER 196.5 pass yards: Risk: 1.5u
